Late Boneset is a weedy wildflower and, to be frank, is a weed despite being also considered a wildflower. It is an extremely common weed in both residential and commercial districts, with a preference for open spaces where it has room to grow. It is one of the disturbed area dominating Asteraceae. One could fill many galleries by simply walking around the edges of a residential district for a few hours in the fall.

From a distance, the plant is neither aesthetically notable or photogenic, but it shines when the flower heads are seen up close.

Late Boneset is one of the species that repeatedly grows out of the center of Columbus Boulevard with the Sunflowers.

It can be a rather large plant, like most of the other dominator Asteraceae, but is often dwarfed when growing in root-restrictive cracks. Even so, the plants can get rather large.

The larger the plants, the larger the flower heads are. For photographing them, the large plants tend to offer the best flower heads for close-up views. The larger plants do tend to fall over under the weight of their own crowns.
