Saltmarsh Goldenrod is also variously called Seaside Goldenrod. I chose to refer to it as Saltmarsh Goldenrod because we have no seaside in the area and the species here grows primarily in highway-adjacent, artificially salted spaces. It isn't common in the riparian zone away from highway or railway spaces. It loves to grow under highway overpasses, where excess salt content inhibits the growth of competing species. It was particularly prevalent in the artificial saltmarsh under I95 in FDR Park, though I have not surveyed that spot since the park was renovated for the FIFA tournament.

The range of the species runs primarily along the river-adjacent highway and rail spaces, all along I95 and Columbus Boulevard, where it appears particularly around highway on or off-ramps, around to I76 and Vare, running up along the Schuylkill River. It is particularly prevalent along Columbus Boulevard below Oregon Avenue, through the Food Distribution District, the outskirts of the Stadium District, the Navy Yard and FDR Park.

Various examples of the species from along this range, from Northern Liberties to Vare, can be seen in this gallery of various old shots.

Shots from an October 2019 survey of the abandoned tennis courts in FDR Park that were adjacent to the artificial saltmarsh where the species was rampant. According to the aerial view on Google maps, the courts have been removed. The whole area is now inaccessible.
