Grass-Leaved Goldenrod is not a true Goldenrod (Solidago). While both are in the Asteraceae family, they are not as closely related as they appear. Solidago, considered in the Solidagininae subtribe, is more closely related to Yellow Mock Asters (Eastwoodia) and Whitetop Asters (Sericocarpus), which look more like Asters or Symphyotrichums than Goldenrods. Euthamia, by contrast, is considered in the Gutierreziinae subtribe with Broomweeds (Amphiachyris) and Desert Goldenrods (Xylothamia).
The only time I have ever seen the species was it appearing at least two years in a row on the medians of Columbus, mostly but not all on one median. After that, they did not grow back in the area and I have not seen any anywhere else. It may have been in the area before 2018 and I simply didn't recognize it then as not a typical Goldenrod but I scoured the area in 2020 to no avail.
